As always with Gainsborough Park, this 2019 release is a very individual Chardonnay with a basket full of different characters, from creamy-smoky-earthy mushroom to intense pink grapefruit, lemon rind and honey, all within a framework of buoyant acidity and textural presence.

The mild conditions on the 2021 season allowed riper flavours and balanced acid to occur at lower sugar levels. This meant that this wine has a more savoury flavour profile than the previous vintage. A classic vintage that will mature well into the medium term, developing more honey and biscuit notes with age.

The Reserve Chardonnay represents a blend of our most significant Chardonnay vineyards, predominantly KBS Block alongside the Evie Block, both located in the cooler southern half of the Mornington Peninsula and each displaying easterly dispositions. 

This 2021 release presents the delightful character of the KBS vineyard, with beautiful lifted cherry and hints of musk. The fine silty tannins are entwined with the red fruit that dissolved towards forest floor.  96 pts James Halliday Wine Companion 2023
