2015 Stonier Merron's Vineyard Pinot Noir
As with most Pinot Noir vineyards in 2016, the yields from Merron’s Vineyard were very low, at only 2.58 tonnes/ha. Hand-picked on March 31 and fermented gently in open fermenters, the pressed wine was matured in barriques for 5 months (34% new), followed by blending of selected barrels and a further 4 months maturation in mostly older barriques (14% new), prior to bottling in February, 2017.
From a bright fruited vintage, this wine displays the vineyard’s typical savoury structural tannins prominently throughout the palate, intertwined with a complex array of red fruits. Expect a touch of spice and tension, giving the wine a nice lift and energetic drive.
