About Stonier International Pinot Noir Tasting
The Stonier International Pinot Noir Tasting (also known as SIPNOT) provides an opportunity for attendees to explore and compare the different styles and expressions of Pinot Noir crafted in regions all over the world. Stonier pioneered SIPNOT as a result of our pursuit to grow and craft world-class Pinot Noir in Australia, and more specifically in Mornington Peninsula, with the first event held in Melbourne in 2000. Since then, SIPNOT has become an annual event held in either Sydney or Melbourne.
SIPNOT attracts an impressive panel to lead the forum every year, provoking stimulating discussion and commentary, including taking questions from the floor before and after the identity of each of the wines is revealed. Esteemed members of the Australian and international wine industry who have led the panel includes Len Evans AO OBE; James Halliday AO; Brian Croser AO; Huon Hooke; Matthew Jukes; Nick Bulleid MW; Andrew Caillard MW; Evan Goldstein MS; and international winemakers Rollin Soles and Jean-Pierre de Smet.
As a result of the incredibly esteemed and emerging wines on show, SIPNOT has become an integral date on the global wine industry event calendar for wine trade and wine-loving consumers. It's always a fascinating night, focused on the enigmatic Pinot Noir and its myriad incarnations; rather than simply recognising the best wine.
