2015 Stonier Gainsborough Park Chardonnay
Chardonnay grapes from 2015 yielded only 3.63 tonnes/ha and were hand-picked on March 24. Gently whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak puncheons as unclarified juice, two one year old puncheons were selected after 10 months on gross fermentation lees. We avoided malo-lactic fermentation, preferring to preserve the natural acid to balance the generous fruit flavours. Bottled in February, 2016.
This Single Vineyard Chardonnay boasts an energetic mid-palate, showing citrus rind and fleshy ripe lemon. This is Chardonnay with a firm core, yet balanced with lovely lifted lemon and pink grapefruit finesse.
