2016 Jimjoca Vineyard Chardonnay
The Chardonnay grapes were picked on March 7 and fermentated in French oak puncheons (15% new and the balance in one and two year old). The puncheons were blended together off gross ferment lees in early February, prior to bottling in late February, 2017.
This Single Vineyard Charodnnay shows immediate delicacy on the palate, with increasing weight and texture coming to the fore. The fruit profile is very much citrus, with bright lemon and lime, as well as hints of barley and pleasant toasty oak in the background. As always with Chardonnay crafted from this vineyard, there is a lovely tension driving the fruit flavours.
