The KBS Vineyard Pinot Noir vines occupy a 1.39 hectare area in the middle of the KBS Vineyard at Merricks. Flanked on both sides by Chardonnay vines, the convex nature of this otherwise east facing slope means that the Pinot Noir vines have a slight north facing disposition.
This 2021 release presents the delightful character of the KBS vineyard, with beautiful lifted cherry and hints of musk. The fine silty tannins are entwined with the red fruit that dissolved towards forest floor. This is a Pinot Noir built on delicate tension rather than power and is certainly the most approachable of the 2021 Pinot Noirs at this early stage.
