The Wine Front
Stonier Hillcrest Pinot Noir 2024
Savoury, earthy, floral, some stems, some sap. Lovely profile. So much savouriness. So much grainy, herb-flecked, earthen tannin. This is distinctive in the best of ways. Julian says that “this was the hardest wine for me in terms of being comfortable bottling it”. But I love its stringy, herb flecked tannin, backed by confident, red/black berried fruit. with the length and composure to match. This is a wine for those who love some overt earth-sap-leaf-whole-bunch character in their Pinot Noir.
For what it’s worth, this wine is my personal favourite in the range.
